Rant: Took me 9 hours to find a tiny crack in my helmet hose during a pre-dive check.

I was chasing a constant air leak that only showed up at 40 feet, and it turned out to be a hairline fracture hidden under the rubber sleeve that I must have missed 5 times even with soap tests; has anyone else spent a whole day on something that dumb?

and the worst part is you probably did a dozen bubble tests on the surface with no luck, right? that same sleeve tricked me once on a used reg where the rubber had gotten stiff and was hiding a split right at the neck. i ended up submerging the whole hose in a bucket and applying pressure by hand to flex it, watched tiny bubbles stream out like a lava lamp once i bent it just right. it's the kind of dumb that makes you feel like an idiot but also kind of genius when you finally catch it.

...and that bucket trick is exactly how I found a pinhole leak in my inflator hose last month. @anna491 I was so pissed at how obvious it looked underwater versus dry, felt like the hose was gaslighting me.

Did you try turning the hose off and on again?
