Shelled out $300 for a fancy drysuit zipper repair that failed in 2 weeks
I took my drysuit to a shop in Norfolk that claimed they specialized in commercial grade zippers. Paid $300 upfront and got it back with a new zipper that looked great but leaked on my first real dive. Went back and they said I must have snagged it, wouldn't touch it again. Anyone else get burned by a repair shop that acted like experts but couldn't back it up?

300 bucks for a zipper that failed in two weeks is criminal. Any legit shop would stand by their work for at least a season. That Norfolk place sounds like they just wanted your cash and split.

My neighbor paid $250 for a jacket repair from a different shop in Norfolk and the sleeve came apart at the seam after a month. They told him basically the same thing, that it was normal wear and tear. It's like some of these places know they can get away with it because most people won't drive back to argue over a couple hundred bucks. Youre right, any place that calls itself a repair shop should stand by their work for at least a season, maybe even a full year. A zipper failing in two weeks isnt wear and tear, its bad work. They took the money and ran, plain and simple.

Three hundred dollars and they wouldn't even look at it again? That's absolutely insane.
