Vent: Found out my drysuit inflator valve was cross-threaded for 6 months and never noticed

I was swapping out a hose fitting on a dive boat in Port Fourchon last weekend and a random deckhand pointed it out, how hard is it to catch something that obvious during a pre-dive check?

Cross-threaded for six months"? Holy crap, that's wild. I'm genuinely shocked you didn't have a slow leak or a stuck valve way before now.

Feel for you, Ross. That's one of those things that just makes you shake your head at the universe. I've had my share of moments where I thought I was being careful and still ended up in a mess. Sometimes you just get lucky for a while before it bites you. Hope it wasn't too much of a pain to fix once you found it.

And yeah, that's wild. I had a similar thing with a bleeder valve on my old truck. It was cross-threaded for almost a year before I finally noticed. No leak somehow, but when I went to bleed the brakes the thing just snapped clean off. Took me a whole weekend to drill it out and retap the hole. Now I always hand start every thread before I even look at a wrench.
