Customer's dusty router comment made me check my own gear
Went to a house call in Austin last week, guy had a 3 year old router buried under a pile of papers and the fan was caked. When I pulled it apart, he said 'dust is free, you know' and honestly I laughed but then went home and looked at my own shop router. Same thing, my cooling vents were clogged up too. Anyone else find themselves ignoring their own kit while fixing everyone elses stuff?
Dust in a router is actually bad for it, the stuff traps heat and can fry the board over time. Same thing happened to a Netgear I had in my closet for two years, opened it up and it was basically a felt blanket in there lol.
