Found a trick for stripping stubborn thermal paste after 12 years of fighting it

I had a laptop from 2017 that kept overheating even after I cleaned the fan. The old thermal paste was baked on like concrete and nothing I tried would get it off completely. I tried alcohol, I tried a plastic scraper, even tried a bit of goo gone but it left residue. Then a buddy told me to use a pink eraser on dry paste, not wet. I rubbed it gently on the CPU and the paste flaked right off in under a minute. Has anyone else used a simple eraser for this or am I late to the party?

Honestly glad I'm not the only one, I found glitter in my toaster yesterday and still don't know how.
