Had a client in Sacramento argue that a full OS reinstall is always the first step for any slowdown.

They insisted it was 'the only way to be sure' after a bad experience with a virus 5 years ago. I had to explain that running a malware scan and checking task manager first saves hours. How do you handle clients with fixed, outdated repair ideas?

That "only way to be sure" mindset, how do you even start to change it?

What makes you think that mindset is a problem?

Look at how many people in history got things done without being totally sure first. Calling it a problem feels like a big overreaction. Most of the time, that kind of thinking just means someone wants to do a job right. It's not a flaw that needs fixing.
