I used to skip the bench test on every single PSU, then I read a number that changed my mind
For 6 years I yanked power supplies out of machines and just swapped them without a second thought, because bench testing felt like a waste of 10 minutes. Then a tech I know in Bakersfield sent me a tool review that said a cheap tester catches between 15 and 20 percent of supplies as bad or borderline before they ever hit a case. That number stuck in my head, so I started testing every pull and found 3 out of 14 in one batch sagging on the 12V rail. One of those was in a home office build for a client who runs billing software all day, so that would have come back on me. How many of you actually bench test your pulls, or am I still the odd one out here?
