My cable management plan got wrecked by dollar store zip ties

I tried to tidy up my home server wiring, but all the ties broke as soon as I tightened them. Now I'm back to square one with a tangled mess, and my patience is gone.

Ugh, I saw a post last week where someone said the exact same thing happened with those flimsy dollar store ties. They just snapped when he was doing his PC cables, left a real mess. It's crazy how something so simple can turn into a huge setback. What kind of ties are you gonna try next?

Actually velcro straps work better sometimes.

Right, and it's not just an inconvenience. When those ties break, it can damage cables or even cause shorts. But what I want to know is, why are they so weak in the first place? Are they using recycled plastic that's brittle, or is the design flawed? I've heard that proper cable ties have a tensile strength rating, but those cheap ones probably don't. So, when picking new ties, should we be looking for specific specs to avoid this mess?

Honestly those dollar store ties are fine if you know how to use them. @wade250 is overthinking the specs, you just have to be gentle when you pull them tight. People blame the product when it's usually just user error.
