Old WinXP machine in a dentist office basement finally gave up
Was swapping out a dead PSU at a client's place last week and the receptionist mentioned they still had the same office PC from 2004 running their billing software. I walked down to look at it, dusty Dell with a CRT monitor still humming. It had 512MB of RAM and a 40GB IDE drive, and somehow it was still doing its job. Made me think about how we chase every new release, but that thing just sat there doing one task for 20 years. Anyone else still run into these ancient machines that just refuse to die?
Used to think old tech like that was just a liability, but honestly its kind of amazing how something so simple can still do the job right. Does that CRT monitor make your whole office feel like a time warp, or is it just me?
