Picked up a tip from an electrician at a job site in Tulsa last month

He showed me how to use a thermal camera to find overheating components before they fail. I caught a bad capacitor on a power supply that looked fine otherwise. Anyone else use thermal imaging for preventive maintenance?

Wait until you get a false reading that makes you replace perfectly good parts.

Hate when that happens, man. You feel my pain.

Has the false reading cost you a lot of money, or did you catch it before buying parts?

Eight bucks at Harbor Freight and suddenly everyone's a power plant engineer.
