PSA: the customer at my bench in Fresno who wanted her RAM "re-downloaded" is still my favorite ticket of the year
She brought in a laptop with 4GB and asked if I could just download more memory into it, and when I explained the sticks had to be swapped she looked at me like I was trying to upsell her on a car wash, so now I keep a spare stick on my bench just to hand people when this comes up, what's your go-to line when a customer thinks storage is a download?
So when she looked at you like you were upselling her, did she actually think you were making up the whole "sticks have to be swapped" thing just to pad the bill? That's the part that gets me, because how do you even prove you're not lying in that moment, you know? Do you show them the open slot and the stick sitting there, or does that just make it worse? I'm curious if handing her the spare stick actually clicked for her or if she walked out still thinking you were running some scam.
