Refurbished business laptops beat new budget ones every time

I did a side by side test for a client last month. He wanted 5 new $400 laptops from Best Buy. I talked him into 5 refurbished ThinkPads from a used dealer in Chicago, $310 each. After 6 weeks, zero issues. The new ones had 3 returns already, one with a dead pixel out of the box. The refurbs came with 3 year warranties from the reseller. Am I crazy for pushing used gear on every small business job now?
