Shoutout to the tech who told me to try a hair dryer on a stubborn laptop hinge
I tried it on a 2015 MacBook Air last week, and the gentle heat actually loosened the old grease enough to get it moving smoothly again, something I wouldn't have thought of after three failed attempts with standard lubricants.

It's funny how often the simplest fix is something you'd never find in a manual. Makes you wonder what other old-school tricks are out there for modern problems.

The manuals are just there so the lawyers have something to point at.

Wait, they still write manuals for things? (I figured those were all PDFs now that nobody reads.) Honestly the best tricks seem to come from some random person's grandparent who fixed things with a paperclip and some hope. Makes you wonder if we've lost more knowledge than we've gained with all the new tech.

My uncle used to keep a binder full of handwritten notes for fixing his old truck. Saw an article about how companies actually make manuals harder to understand on purpose, so you just give up and call for service. All that practical knowledge just gets buried. Kind of sad when a youtube video from some guy in his garage is more useful than the official guide.
