That thermal paste myth I believed for 15 years finally got busted
Back in 2005 my first boss at a repair shop in Cleveland swore you had to use a razor blade to spread paste perfectly flat. Did that on literally hundreds of builds. Then two months ago I watched a Gamers Nexus video showing pea method is basically the same temps. Tried it on my own rig after work and sure enough same numbers. Felt like an idiot but also kinda mad at that old guy for wasting so much of my time. Any of you guys have a repair shop myth you followed for way too long?

Wait, you actually used a razor blade?

Nah I mean, "actually used a razor blade" makes it sound like I was doing something crazy. It was just a fresh single blade from a utility knife, not some rusty thing. I've done it a few times when I couldn't find my scraper and it works fine if you're careful. You just gotta keep the angle right so you don't gouge the glass.
