Update: Had to fix a whole office after a bad Windows update

Got a call from a small law firm downtown last Tuesday. Their main file server just stopped after a patch. Spent the whole day rolling it back. The fix was easy but the downtime cost them. Anyone else seeing more of these forced updates breaking things?

We've actually had fewer issues since turning on automatic updates. The key is good testing before pushing to production.

But what about the test environment?

Good testing" sounds nice, but what does that actually look like?

So we're supposed to trust that "good testing" is enough? That's like saying you know how to swim because you've watched a few YouTube videos. Until your test environment crashes exactly like production does, I'm not buying it.
