Update: That weird BIOS corruption on a Dell Optiplex 3020 took me a whole Friday to fix.
Turns out the CMOS battery tested fine, but the board needed a full power drain and a BIOS reflash from a USB drive. Anyone else run into this specific gremlin lately?

Spent a whole Saturday on a 7010 once, same deal. I was so sure it was the battery, I bought a five pack before trying the reflash. My own stubbornness is the real gremlin.
