Appreciation post: that old school bull float vs the new magnesium ones
I mean, I used a buddy's lightweight magnesium float on a 30 yard slab last week and the difference in arm fatigue after 4 hours was crazy. Idk, maybe it's just me but I'm thinking of switching over for good. Anyone else made the jump and noticed a real change?

Totally get the hype for the new ones. That weight difference is no joke on a long pour. Hard to go back once you feel it.

Thomas_Sanchez is right, but the grip on those new ones sucks.

Yeah, the magnesium ones are a game changer for bigger slabs. I switched after my last pour over 25 yards, and my shoulder wasn't screaming the next day. The old steel one just wears you down by the third hour. It's one of those things you don't realize is a problem until you try the lighter tool.
