Bought a cheap magnesium float from a discount site, it cracked on the second pour
Lost a full day's work and about $300 in labor because I had to stop and go get a proper tool. Should have just paid the extra $40 for the brand my old boss swore by. Anyone have a good source for floats that actually hold up?

Been there. Bought a cheap trowel that snapped like a twig halfway through a patio job. Never skimp on the tools you use all day.

Used to grab whatever was on sale at the hardware store. Learned the hard way with a putty knife that bent on the first screw. Now I get why my dad always bought the solid stuff. That patio story is exactly why. A good tool just feels right in your hand and doesn't quit.

My neighbor built his whole deck with a 20 dollar socket set from a gas station. It's still standing ten years later. Sometimes the cheap stuff works fine if you're not using it every single day.
