Really that bad for the battery?

Oh man, you gotta watch the battery. I ran a small crockpot off my truck for a year. Trick is to only plug it in with the engine running, never just on accessory. Even then, maybe get the battery tested before winter hits.

Yeah but honestly I think people worry too much about the battery. My old work truck had a power inverter for years and it was fine, just gotta be smart about it. Like what happened to Jake is exactly why you don't run that stuff with the engine off.

Did you see that news story about crockpots in work vans? They talked about how it saves a ton of time. Hot food right there means no more long lunch breaks. I bet it helps with the long days too. Always wondered if it messes with the truck battery though.

My buddy Jake rigged up a coffee maker in his plow truck last year. He said it was a game changer during long shifts in the snow. But one morning he drained the battery so bad it wouldn't start! Now he keeps a jump starter in the cab just for that. I guess any hot appliance in a vehicle has that risk.
