PSA: That $400 laser screed rental saved my butt on a big garage pour last week.
We had a 30x40 slab to do and the owner wanted it dead flat for epoxy coating. I was going to hand strike it, but my buddy talked me into renting the laser screed. Set it up in 20 minutes, ran it across the forms, and it was perfect. No high spots, no low spots, just a glass finish ready for a power trowel. Who else has used one on a job that size?

Wait, just a small thing! A laser screed doesn't give you the final finish ready for a power trowel. It gets the concrete flat and level, but you still have to bull float it right after to push down the aggregate and get a smooth surface. Then you wait for the bleed water before you even think about the power trowel. It's an awesome tool for flatness, but it doesn't skip all the steps.

Read an article saying laser screeds still need hand finishing after.

So you still have to do actual work?
