That time a site foreman's 'just trust me' on the mix ratio cost us 4 grand
I was on a slab pour outside Nashville last spring, and the foreman told me to add an extra bag of cement per yard because the afternoon heat was coming. I thought he was being lazy about the slump, but I did it anyway since he's been doing this 25 years. The slab looked great at first, but by week two, we had spider cracks all over because the mix was too rich and it cured too fast. We had to demo a 40-foot section and repour, which ate the whole week's profit. Has anyone else had a boss with a 'gut feeling' that just wrecked the job?
