Why does nobody talk about using a garden sprayer for curing compound?
I had a big pour for a driveway in Tucson last month and my pump sprayer broke halfway through. My buddy said to try a cheap 2 gallon garden sprayer from the hardware store. I was sure it would clog or spray too heavy, but it put down a perfect, even coat and saved me over an hour. Now I keep one in the truck just for that job. Anyone else find a weird tool that actually works better than the 'right' one?

My buddy Jake swears by his garden sprayer for sealing asphalt.

My uncle did concrete work for years and swore by a garden sprayer for curing sealant. He said the adjustable nozzle on the cheap models gives you more control than most dedicated pumps. I tried it on a small patio job and the fine mist setting was perfect, no puddles at all. It's one of those things the old timers knew but never wrote down. The hardware store version is easier to clean out before the compound sets up hard too.

That's a perfect example of how the best tools are often the ones already in the shed. It feels like a lot of modern gear is just a basic thing made more complex and expensive. The simple fix, like using a sprayer you already own, gets lost. There's real wisdom in those workarounds that come from actually doing the job every day, not just selling a product for it. It makes you wonder what other simple solutions we've traded for shiny, overpriced gadgets.

Oh man, that's such a solid tip. I love hearing those old-school tricks that actually work better than the fancy tools. It makes total sense that a fine mist would stop puddles, plus the clean up part is a huge win. Those little bits of wisdom are the best part of any trade, honestly. Your uncle knew what was up.
