My uncle in Tucson spent 3 years trying to convince me his neighbor's new shed was a CIA listening post, until I saw the 'shed' owner installing a satellite dish last week.

He was just a guy who really liked British TV, and my uncle's whole elaborate theory about black vans and coded lawn ornaments collapsed in about 30 seconds, which makes me wonder what's the most mundane thing you've seen that completely debunked a wild conspiracy for you?

But was your uncle's theory ever really hurting anyone? Sounds like it was just a fun story for a while.

You know, @shane_park92, your comment reminds me of my cousin's whole thing about how the moon landing was faked. He'd bring it up at every cookout, and we'd all just roll our eyes and let him talk. It became a weird family tradition, like arguing about who makes the best potato salad. Nobody changed their mind, but it gave us something to laugh about later. Those weird stories just become part of the family lore, harmless in the grand scheme.

Fun story" is exactly right, @shane_park92. Nobody was hurt by a weird uncle.
