Ngl, my shortwave listening hobby has me seeing a trend where every weird frequency sparks spy satellite debates.

See, when you say it's just messing up the dial, I have to push back a little. I logged a solid data burst on 6780 kHz last month that turned out to be a weather fax from a ship way off course. If I wrote off every weird blip as my mistake, I'd never find the real odd stuff.

That's a cool find with the weather fax. So when you do track down a weird signal, what's your actual process for ruling out the normal stuff? Like, do you have a checklist you run through?

I just assume every weird signal is me messing up the dial.

Yeah the "messing up the dial" thing is so real. But it makes me wonder, how often do you actually track down a truly weird signal that is clearly from somewhere else? Like you rule out all the normal stuff, and it's still just this odd burst of noise or numbers. Do you ever get that, or is it mostly just tuning ghosts?
