Paid $80 for a 'government tracking chip detector' off a shady website - turns out it just beeped at my microwave every time I walked past.
Spent last Saturday chasing ghosts around my apartment until I realized the device was just picking up the microwave frequency from the kitchen, and now I'm out 80 bucks with nothing but a funny story, has anyone else fallen for one of these gadgets?

Gotta disagree a little. $80 for a laugh and a story about chasing ghosts with a microwave beeper sounds like money well spent, honestly. Way better than losing it on some boring subscription.

Funny how we'll drop eighty bucks on something silly and memorable without blinking, but then agonize over a ten dollar streaming fee or a three dollar coffee. People are out here paying forty dollars a month for apps they barely open, but a one-time story that will stick with you for years feels like a luxury. It's like we've been trained to think that spending money on experiences is wasteful, while subscriptions are just the cost of existing. But what's the point of saving all that money if you don't have anything worth remembering? You can't put a price on a good story you can tell at a party for the rest of your life. Feels like we're all just paying to forget stuff these days.

Oh man, you get it. Totally worth it for the story alone.
