PSA: I spent $80 on a 'government-proof' signal jammer that was just a plastic box
I bought it online last year from a site that claimed it could block all tracking, convinced by their videos showing phones 'losing signal'. It arrived, and when I opened it, there was just a cheap circuit board and a battery wired to do nothing. What's the most obvious scam you've seen sold to people who are worried about being watched?

Has anyone ever looked into those "EMF blocking" stickers for phones and routers? They're just pieces of foil or plastic but people buy them thinking it stops hackers. It's crazy how fear makes us ignore basic science for a magic fix.

Totally agree, it's wild how those things sell! People get so worried about "harmful waves" or data theft that they'll slap anything on their devices. It reminds me of those "quantum" healing pendants or apps that claim to purify your water through the phone speaker. The real shame is that these scams prey on genuine confusion about how tech actually works, making real safety tips get lost in the noise.

What gets me is how they always look so cheap and flimsy... like a bit of shiny tape. My aunt bought a pack for her whole family, swore it stopped her headaches. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was probably just placebo. It really does show how a simple, wrong idea can spread faster than the actual facts.

Those stickers are often just metal foil, which can actually make your signal worse. A weaker signal means your phone boosts its power to find a tower, potentially increasing your exposure to radio waves. It's the opposite of what people want, and it shows how the scam can backfire in a real way.
