Showerthought: my uncle in Toledo gave me a stack of old JFK papers in 1998 and the dates in them never matched what the news still says
He worked at a print shop there for 30 years and kept every weird clipping anyone handed him, so when I finally read them side by side last month I saw three different times listed for the same afternoon in Dallas. The part that bugs me is how many people online now argue about the same report without ever checking what was printed that week, they just repeat a version someone smoothed over. Has anyone else dug up old papers from that era and found stuff that got quietly changed in later retellings?
Wondering if this is really as big a deal as you're making it. Papers back then had deadlines and different crews filing from different spots, so yeah the times would be off by a few minutes here and there. That's not some cover up, that's just how news worked before everything got synced up to the second. My question is what you think the actual point is, because a print shop guy in Toledo keeping clippings doesn't really prove much on its own. If the times are different, show us the papers, because "I saw it" on a forum is exactly the same as the people you're complaining about who just repeat stuff.
