That month my neighbor's satellite dish conspiracy got me banned from the HOA Facebook page

Ngl, I thought my neighbor was just another paranoid guy when he said the dishes pick up government signals, but then I saw him unscrew his dish one Tuesday and my wifi went down for three days. Turns out he was onto something about the dish alignment interfering with local networks, but when I brought it up in the HOA group, they deemed it 'disruptive' and kicked me out. Has anyone else had a neighbor's antenna weirdness mess with your internet, or am I the only one who got exiled for asking?

The HOA kicked you out just for asking questions? That's wild. My neighbor's dish pointed right at my router and killed my signal every time it rained. Took me weeks to figure out why my stream kept buffering. Maybe these dishes do mess with stuff more than people want to admit.

Maybe these dishes do mess with stuff" is kinda vague but gets at a real issue, just not the one people usually think. Rain absorbing signal is a microwave thing, not really interference from the dish itself, more like the rain blocking the beam. Still sucks when your stream buffers though, i'd be annoyed too even if it's just bad weather and not some secret HOA conspiracy.

Yeah the whole "kicked out for asking questions" thing is exactly what my buddy went through last year. He asked the board if they had any RF interference reports from the county and they just told him to move. His setup was just a basic dish on a tripod in his backyard, not even attached to the house. He tried to show them old FCC filings from 2019 where people complained about signal drops near those big satellite arrays, but they didn't care. He ended up spending six months in a rental because the HOA president's brother was some retired air force guy who swore the dishes caused "electromagnetic fog" or something. Now he lives three states away and has a clear view of the southern sky, joke's on them I guess.
