Can we talk about how I kept stacking rebar on the ground for almost a decade
For 9 seasons I had my crews lay rebar bundles right on the dirt at job sites around Dayton, and I never gave it a second look. Last Tuesday an inspector walked up, pointed at the mud caked on a bundle, and asked me if I planned to pour rust into the foundation. I pulled the spec book that night and found out the mill scale starts breaking down fast once moisture sits on it, and my tie wire was soaking it up. Now we crib every bundle on 4x4s with a tarp over it, and the pour crew has quit bugging me about cleanup. How do you all store bar on tight lots where there is no room for a rack?
