Pro tip: I switched from paper timesheets to a tablet app on my 14 unit job and the crew stopped fighting me on it
Two months ago I had to pick between keeping the paper timesheets every foreman on my 14 unit job in Boise has used since forever, or moving the whole crew to a tablet check in app. I went with the app because I was losing about 6 hours a week just chasing down missing sheets and handwriting I could not read. The first few days were rough, two guys kept forgetting their pin, but by the second pay period nobody wanted to go back. My super Rick told me he used to spend Sunday nights fixing hours at his kitchen table and now he does not touch them at all. Has anyone else made the jump, and did you keep paper as a backup or cut it loose completely?
Rick doing timesheets at his kitchen table on a Sunday night is the saddest image I've heard all week. Good on you for ending that. In my experience crews fuss for about a week and then act like they never did it any other way, but your mileage may vary.
