PSA: Those cheap laser distance measurers from Amazon are a trap
Bought a $35 laser measurer on Prime Day thinking I was being smart. Thing was off by almost 4 inches on a 30 foot run in the Wilson job site last month. Had to reorder 12 sheets of drywall because my takeoff was wrong. Anyone else had bad luck with the budget laser tools?

Off by almost 4 inches on a 30 foot run" is exactly why I now measure twice and buy once with my eyes closed. My cheap laser gives me readings that are basically just suggestions.

@the_piper sounds like your cheap laser is more of a "suggestion box" than a measuring tool. At least now you know your tape measure is the real MVP.

Funny you mention tape measures being the MVP, I had one that snapped back and gave me a pretty good welt on my arm last week. Still more reliable than any laser I've owned though. I swear those things are either dead on or just completely making up numbers depending on the moon phase or whatever. At least with a tape measure if it's off you know it's probably your own fault for not holding it straight.
