Subfloor screws snapped on 400 sq ft, learned my drill was the issue
Last month I was screwing down 3/4 plywood for a subfloor in a Portland remodel. About halfway through, every third screw started snapping off before it seated. I blamed the screws, swapped brands, still broke. Then my buddy pointed out my impact driver was running on a low battery and losing torque, so it was hammering instead of driving. Swapped to a fresh 5Ah pack and finished the last 200 sq ft without a single break. Has anyone else traced fastener failures back to their tool's power state instead of the materials?

Same thing happened to me with deck screws, drove me nuts until I checked the battery.
