That fancy concrete curing blanket i bought was a total waste
I dropped $400 on a high-end concrete curing blanket for a slab we poured last month on a job in Denver. Figured it would speed things up and keep the concrete stronger. All it did was trap moisture unevenly and gave us a patchy surface that needed grinding anyway. My old wet burlap method would have worked fine. Anyone else get burned by overselling expensive gear?

Wait, $400 on a blanket for concrete? Bro, that is insane. I mean, I knew concrete work could get pricey but four hundred bucks on something that's basically a fancy tarp? And it actually made things worse, not better? That's brutal, man.
The patchy surface thing really gets me, cause grinding that out is just more time and money you gotta throw at it. I've seen crews use old carpet scraps and they get better results for free. You'd think something that expensive would at least do the basic job right but nope.
The burlap method is tried and true, honestly. Sorry you got burned that bad.

It's funny how the expensive option often isn't the better one.

Man, you're so right about that. I spent fifty bucks on a fancy hair product last month and it made my scalp itch, but the cheap generic stuff from the grocery store works perfect. It's like you're paying for the label half the time and not for something that actually works better.

Yeah I tried one of those expensive curing compounds a while back and same thing happened. Ended up just going back to keeping it wet with a hose and some old sheets I had lying around. Simple stuff always works better for me.
