A bride in my chair last Saturday said she'd been growing her hair out for three years just for this day, and it made me realize the weight of our work.

She was so nervous her hands were shaking, but after we finished her updo she looked in the mirror, took a deep breath, and said 'Okay, I'm ready to get married now'.

And that moment right there, that's EVERYTHING. You start out thinking you're just doing hair but then you realize you're actually helping someone find their footing before the biggest day of their life. It's crazy how much trust they put in us, like we're part of the anchor crew keeping them steady. Once you feel that weight once, you start watching for the little cracks where they might need you to hold them up a bit. That deep breath she took wasn't just about liking the hairstyle, it was her saying "okay, I've got this now" and you helped her get there.

Feel that pressure. Her moment of calm must've been huge for you.

Small routines helped us find those moments too.

Yeah, it was. But what hit me later was how that calm wasn't just a break for me. It showed me she was still in there, you know? That tiny moment of peace meant she could still feel safe, even with everything going wrong. That changed my whole goal from just getting through it to trying to give her more of those seconds. Makes you watch for different things.
