Appreciation post: that old stylist in Boise who showed me her bobby pin trick
Last month I was in Boise for a family thing and stopped into a random salon to grab some clips. A stylist in her 60s saw me struggling with a slippery updo on a mannequin and showed me this way of crossing the pins before sliding them in. It took me 3 tries to get it right, but now I use it on every bridal client and my pins never pop out mid-shoot. Has anyone else picked up a fix like that from watching someone older work? What was the trick?
