Blew out my curling iron on a client at 3pm yesterday

I was doing a full head of spiral curls for a bride's trial at the salon in Nashville and the clamp snapped right off mid-roll, so I just switched to flexi rods on the fly and finished the whole thing in 40 minutes instead, has anyone else had a tool fail mid-service and had to jury-rig it with whatever was on your station?

Wait wait wait the clamp just SNAPPED off mid-roll? Like clean broke off the iron? That's wild I would've just stood there staring at it for a solid 30 seconds before I even remembered flexi rods existed. You must have nerves of steel or something.

OH MAN that exact same thing happened to me with my old curling iron a few years back! I was doing a wedding party and the barrel just stopped heating in the middle of the first bridesmaid's head. I panicked for like five seconds then grabbed my straightener and started doing those loose beachy waves by wrapping sections around it instead. It actually looked better than the curls I was going for and the bride loved it. Now I keep two curling irons in my kit at all times plus a set of hot rollers just in case. Learned real quick that tools don't care about your timeline.

OH MAN that is a NIGHTMARE! I had my flat iron literally catch fire mid-section on a bridal party once, had to finish all four bridesmaids with a hot comb and a prayer, fire alarm was going off and everything. You are a BOSS for pulling off those flexi rods in 40 minutes though, that is straight up sorcery. I swear tools always break at the worst possible moments, like they can sense when you have zero time to spare. I keep a backup curling iron AND a back up blow dryer in my kit now after that day, learned my lesson the hard way.

And it's not just salon tools either, I swear the universe has a sick sense of timing for when things break. My car battery died at a red light right before a big client meeting last month, like why couldn't it have happened in my driveway the night before?
