Had a client ask for a 'sunset balayage' and show me a picture of a literal sunset
She brought in a photo from her vacation, not a hair inspo pic, and got upset when I said I couldn't match the exact colors of the sky. The whole 90 minute consultation was just her pointing at clouds. I had to explain pigment, lightening, and tone all over again. Anyone else deal with clients bringing in pictures of things that aren't hair?

Ugh that sounds so frustrating. @murray.cora is right, it's like they think we have a magic wand. Some things just don't translate from a photo to real life.

That "pointing at clouds" thing is so real. I mean, it's like people see a picture of a marble countertop and want that exact pattern for their nails, or a picture of moss and want that color for a couch. They just don't get that some stuff in the real world can't be copied exactly. It's like they forget what materials and colors can actually do. Maybe it's just me but it feels like social media made everyone think everything is possible.
