Had to decide on a client's color correction after a box dye disaster
A regular came in last week with orange ends from a store kit she tried at home. I had to pick between a full bleach and tone to get her back to her natural level 7 ash brown, or a slower process with a color remover and a filler. I went with the slower option because her ends were pretty fried. It took about 3 hours total, but we got her to a nice, even base without more damage. She was so relieved she almost cried. Has anyone else had good results with a filler before a corrective color on damaged hair?

Honestly, I used to be all about the quick fix with bleach on jobs like that. Tbh, seeing how fried that hair was would have made me nervous to hit it with more lightener. Your slower plan with the filler sounds way smarter for keeping what's left of the hair in one piece. Getting it even without more damage is a win, even if it takes all afternoon.

How fried were the ends when you started? I agree with @michael_green44, going slow is always better than risking a total meltdown. That three-hour save sounds totally worth it.
