I mean, maybe it's just me but I dropped like $80 on a new brand of color remover and it totally fried a client's hair.

Wasn't there a whole thing online about that one brand that kept causing breakage? I saw a bunch of stylists posting about it last year, saying the formula changed and it got way too harsh. They were showing pictures of hair just snapping off during the process. Makes you wonder if some companies are cutting corners with stronger chemicals to make it work faster.

Oh, I remember that mess all too well. @cameronp47 you're right, it was a specific brand that a lot of chain salons were pushing. Had a friend who managed a store that used it, and she said they switched to a cheaper supplier for the active ingredient. The results were terrible. Girls were coming back two days later with hair that felt like straw and just snapped off at the root if you ran a comb through it. My advice is always to ask your stylist what brand they're using and if they've noticed any recent changes. A good stylist will be honest about formula shifts, but the bad ones will just tell you it's your hair being difficult.

Ouch, that's a rough lesson learned.

Sometimes a hard lesson is the best way to learn. It sticks with you better than just being told what to do. I would not call it a total loss.
