Just realized a client's hair breakage was from her new car's headrest
Had a regular, Sarah, come in last Tuesday complaining about sudden breakage at her nape. We went through her routine, products, everything. It clicked when she mentioned she'd bought a new Subaru a month ago. The fabric on the headrest was super rough and she has a long commute. We trimmed the damage and I told her to wrap a silk scarf around it for the drive. Has anyone else seen weird damage from something a client wears or uses daily?

You're blaming the headrest fabric? That seems like a stretch. Hair is pretty tough stuff. Could be a hundred other things she changed at the same time, like a new shampoo or even stress from buying the car. I've seen cheap wool hats cause some friction, but a car seat? That fabric has to pass safety standards, it's not sandpaper. Maybe the trim was just overdue and the timing was a coincidence.

You say hair is tough, but constant rubbing on one spot is different. Safety standards don't test for hair breakage over months. I've seen rough upholstery wear down jacket shoulders, so why not hair?

Ever think about static electricity from the fabric?
