My clipper blade fell apart mid haircut yesterday
I was working on a client around 2 PM when the blade on my Andis Master just snapped right off the hinge. No warning, no weird noise, just dropped into the cape. Had to finish the whole cut with my backup trimmer from 2016, which was a disaster. Anyone else had a tool fail on them at the worst possible moment?

Wait, are you seriously blaming the tool for breaking when it's probably 5+ years old and you didn't maintain it? lol. Those Andis blades have a hinge pin that wears down over time, and if you're not regularly oiling and tightening screws, that's on you, not the brand. I've had my Masters for like 8 years and I've never seen a blade just snap off unless someone dropped them or neglected the maintenance real bad. Plus, having a backup trimmer from 2016 that's trash means you're not prepping properly for clients anyway. Tools fail when you abuse them or skip the basics, man. Maybe invest in a new backup clipper instead of blaming the gear.

HOLD UP wait wait wait... did you just say you had a backup trimmer from 2016 sitting around? Like that was your plan B for clients? Thats wild man. I mean come on theres no way that thing was cutting anything but frustration by like 2018. You gotta have at least one modern backup on deck or youre just asking for a disaster mid haircut.

Man look I get what youre saying but honestly having an older trimmer as backup isnt automatically a bad thing. That 2016 model might have needed some TLC sure but the real issue here is expecting any tool to last forever without basic care. Blaming the age alone ignores the fact that those older Andis trimmers had solid build quality if you kept up with maintenance. Maybe the guy just didnt oil it or check the screws like he should have. Plus its not like modern trimmers are bulletproof either Ive seen brand new Wahl clippers fail after a few months if you drop them or run them dry. So calling his backup trash just because its old is a stretch. The real lesson is take care of your gear or it doesnt matter if its from 2016 or 2026.
