PSA: I thought the whole 'scalp detox' thing was just a fad until a client came in with buildup so bad you could see it.

For months, I kept seeing ads for these fancy scalp scrubs and treatments, and I just rolled my eyes. I figured it was another way to sell extra products. Then, about three weeks ago, a regular came in for her color touch-up, and when I went to section her hair, her scalp was literally coated in this thick, waxy layer. It was from a combo of dry shampoo and heavy styling creams she'd been using daily for over a year. I used a clarifying shampoo and did a gentle manual exfoliation with a silicone brush, and the difference was insane. Her hair felt lighter, the color took more evenly, and she said her scalp hadn't felt that clean in ages. I had to admit I was wrong. Has anyone else had a client that completely changed their mind on a trend they thought was bogus?

Oh, I had the exact same thing happen. I was so sure those scalp massagers were a gimmick until a client with fine, flat hair brought one in. Her scalp was just... stuck. We used a simple apple cider vinegar rinse and that little tool, and the volume she got at the roots was unbelievable. It completely flipped my view. Now I keep a gentle scrub on hand for clients who use a lot of product.

Yeah, that's so true. It's wild how the right thing can just make it all click.

Man, that's so true... it's like we're all just walking around with these little things we're sure are pointless until we actually try them. I bet @the_terry is gonna have the same shock. It happens with so much stuff, not just hair tools... you write something off for years and then one day it just clicks. Makes you wonder what else we're all missing out on because we're too stubborn to give it a shot.
