Shoutout to the cheap shampoo that ruined my color job
Used a drugstore clarifying shampoo from CVS on a client and her $200 balayage turned orange in two washes. Has anyone else had a product totally wreck your work like that?

Lmao CVS really said "we don't do color preservation here" and just nuked it. That's rough though, rip that balayage.

Honestly, $200 at a real salon doesn't guarantee anything better. I had a friend pay for a "high-end" balayage at a place on 5th Avenue and it still faded to orange in three washes. At least CVS let you try a box for $12 and you know exactly what you're getting.

and @taraross is right, honestly. i had a client's $300 balayage go straight to brassy orange after she used a cheap suave clarifying shampoo from target, it was a nightmare. people don't realize how hard those drugstore cleansers hit the hair, they strip everything out no matter what you paid. rip to that color, seriously.
