The way new stylists taper necks is driving me crazy

I keep seeing girls out of beauty school doing these harsh, blunt lines at the nape instead of a proper taper. My salon in Portland gets walk-ins from three different schools and I've fixed 12 bad tapers this month alone. Who told yall a straight line across the back of the neck is acceptable? Seriously asking because I want to send them a strongly worded email.

And straight lines in nature look about as natural as a landing strip on a forest floor.

Straight line across the nape is the haircut version of a mullet.

Man a straight line across the nape is just lazy finishing work.
