Took a break from keratin treatments and switched to air-dry styling
After 4 years of doing keratin treatments every 3 months on my own hair, I decided to stop back in January and try a heat-free air-dry routine instead. My hair is thick and wavy, so I was nervous about frizz and how long it would take to dry without a blow dryer. I switched to a microfiber towel, a leave-in cream, and a diffuser attachment for occasional touch-ups, which cost me about $35 total. It's been 2 months now, and my hair feels healthier but the waves are less predictable on humid days. Has anyone else made the jump from chemical straightening to air-dry styling, and how long did it take for your hair to find its natural rhythm again?
Admit I was totally against going heat-free for years... I thought my hair would just become a giant frizz ball and I'd look like a poodle forever. But watching my friend do it with similar thickness kinda made me curious, and your post is honestly pushing me to try it too. The unpredictable waves on humid days sounds like a real pain, but I'm starting to think that's just part of the trade-off for healthier hair. I even bought a diffuser last week just in case I cave. Maybe I'll give it a shot after the summer humidity dies down a bit.
