Took me 6 months to figure out my blow dryer was the reason clients kept flinching
Back in 2019 I had this run of clients pulling away when I went near their ears with the dryer, and I kept blaming my technique. I tried different angles, lower heat, holding it further back, nothing worked. Then a rep at a supply house in Dallas asked what wattage I was running and told me my old 1875 watt unit was basically a jet engine in a salon chair. Swapped to a 1600 watt with a real diffuser and the flinching stopped in one day. Anyone else ever chase the wrong fix for months before figuring out it was just the tool?
Man, this hits home. What gets me is how the tool was working "right" the whole time, it was just too much for the job. We all get stuck thinking the problem is us when really the equipment is just overkill. That rep in Dallas basically handed you six months of your life back by asking one stupid simple question. Makes you wonder how many other things in the shop we blame ourselves for when it is just a spec sheet issue nobody ever told us about.
