Vent: Overheard a stylist pushing a $200 clarifying treatment on a teen with damaged hair
I was at a supply shop in Raleigh last week and heard a stylist bragging to her friend about selling a full detox package to a 16-year-old whose hair was already fried from box dye. Has anyone else seen this kind of upselling getting out of hand lately?

Saw the exact same thing at a salon in Greensboro last month. A dad brought his daughter in for a simple trim and walked out $300 poorer because the stylist convinced him she needed some "bond repair ritual." I waited in the lobby and watched the whole thing go down. That poor girl just sat there nodding while her dad swiped his card.

Has anyone thought about how awkward that must have been for the stylist too? I'm not defending her, but @caseythompson, you gotta wonder if she was pushed by the salon owner to upsell like that or if she really thought the kid needed it. Just feels like both sides lose in those situations, the dad gets scammed and the stylist looks bad.

Wait it's called a "bond repair ritual" not a "detox package", Casey Thompson is mixing up two different salon scams. That Greensboro story is WILD though, poor girl and her dad got completely played.
