Hit 1,000 hours on the same tower crane last Tuesday and the logbook made me feel weird about it
Everyone keeps saying you should move around and learn new cranes to grow in this trade, but I just passed 1,000 hours on the same Potain MDT 219 at the Riverside site in Kansas City. The number snuck up on me because it happened on a Tuesday just doing my usual pour cycle, not some big job. Honestly, those 1,000 hours taught me more about wind load on that specific boom than jumping between five different machines ever would. People act like staying on one crane makes you stale, but I can feel a 2 mph gust change in my seat before the anemometer even moves. Anyone else think sticking with one rig for a long stretch beats hopping around, or am I just getting set in my ways?
