Hot take: I thought a binding governor was a quick fix until I spent 8 hours on a 1998 Dover in the old First National building.

Ngl, I was sure it was just a stuck linkage, but after cleaning and adjusting that, I found a worn cam follower inside the gearbox that took me forever to source and replace, so what's the longest a 'simple' fix has ever taken you guys?

Yeah, those "quick" jobs that turn into a whole thing... my neighbor had a similar story with a fuel pump he swore was bad. Took the bed off his truck and everything, just to find a chewed-up wire in a harness he had to trace back to the firewall.

Heard a story from my buddy about his old truck. He swore the rough idle was just a dirty air filter. Ended up chasing a vacuum leak for two days, only to find a tiny crack in the intake manifold gasket he had to make himself. I mean, it was supposed to be a thirty minute job on a Saturday morning.

Honestly paige_owens5, that's why I just pay someone else to look at my car.
