My 200 foot blind pick near the airport taught me to trust the tagline

Last month I had a job hauling precast panels behind the FedEx hub in Memphis. The spotter kept giving me hand signals that conflicted with what the load cell said, and I nearly swung into a light pole. I stopped everything, asked the super to pull the crane's calibration log, and we found the sensor was reading 2,000 pounds heavy. It cost us two hours but saved a lot worse. Any of you guys run into sensor drift and trust your gut over the numbers?
